Crunchyroll is an American distributor, publisher, production and licensing company focused on streaming anime, manga, and drama. Founded in 2006 by a group of University of California, Berkeley graduates.
In 2018, Crunchyroll was purchased by AT&T, and became a part of Warner Media, shortly after AT&T's recent acquisition of Time Warner, thus making Crunchyroll and Adult Swim sister companies, on August 9, 2021, it was announced that Crunchyroll was sold to Sony, who also are the owners of Funimation.
Several collaborative projects between Crunchyroll and Adult Swim have been announced such as Blade Runner: Black Lotus, Fena: Pirate Princess and Shenmue: The Animation.
