Kagome Higurashi is one of the main characters of the Inuyasha series.
Biography[]
Kagome was the grand-daughter of the keeper of Higurashi Shrine, a shintō shrine near Tokyo. Unbeknownst to her and her family, Kagome was the reincarnation of Kikyo and the bearer of the Jewel of Four Souls. She would later learn of this and her importance through Kaede, Kikyo's younger sister.
Meeting Inuyasha[]
While celebrating her fifteenth birthday, Kagome was pulled into The Bone Eater's Well by a centipede yōkai, known as the Mistress Centipede, and taken into feudal Japan, specifically the Sengoku period. While wondering around in the forest, Kagome encountered an unconscious half dog demon pinned to a tree. After awakening him by releasing the arrow from his arm, the demon introduced himself as Inuyasha. Inuyasha saved Kagome from Mistress Centipede, killing her shortly after.
The union was cut short after the Jewel of Four Souls was stolen by a demon. In an attempt to rescue the jewel, Kagome unintentionally shattered it and split the jewel into many shards.
