Mortal Kombat is a video game franchise created by Ed Boon and John Tobias that began in 1992, and has since expanded to include comics, an animated series and two live-action films.

The series is known for it's gory finishing moves known as Fatalities, where one player kills his opponent post match.

  • In an The Eric Andre Show open, Hannibal Burres is depicted performing a fatality on Eric, similar to Mortal Kombat II.
  • During the 2019 Adult Swim On The Green on July 20, Wham City performed Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Live, a sort of re-telling of Mortal Kombat featuring Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, and Quan Chi (who wasn't introduced until Mortal Kombat 4). The show was to end with a live fatality, however, Robby Rackleff, playing Scorpion was unable to pull Alan Resnick's head from his body.
