Sailor Moon known in Japan as Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon is an anime series that broadcast in America beginning in 1995 originally to low ratings, due to syndication shuffling it to early morning timeslots, making it unsuitable for it's target audience. The series would eventually be picked up by The USA Network in 1997 and later in 1998 would join the Toonami line-up, which would result in the the final 17 episodes of the second season being dubbed, after becoming a ratings success. In 1999, the rest of the series would be dubbed and air on the block.

The series follows the Sailor Soldiers (Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Venus, Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter) as they defend Earth against an assortment of interstellar villains.

The series was eventually redubbed by Viz Media in 2014 and on May 17, 2024 it was announced that the series would be joining a new Toonami Rewind block starting on May 31, 2024.

• In the Robot Chicken episode Joint Point, an unnamed villain gets an erection attempting to fight Sailor Moon, she's disgusted and the two agree to fight later. Later in the episode the villain reports his failure to Queen Beryl and as she begins chewing him out he gets another one. In the final segment from the episode Queen Beryl, while holding a picture of Sailor Moon, promises to get her life force, for the camera to scroll down and reveal her own erection. Beryl then remarks to the camera, anime sure is weird.
• In the Robot Chicken episode Moesha Poppins, in a documentary by Michael Moore on what happens to Girl Toys when girls stop playing with them, Sailor Moon admits to selling her used panties.
• In the Robot Chicken episode What Can You Tell Me About Butt Rashes, Sailor Moon, Sailor Venus, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury transform after encountering a Churro-themed villain in a mall food court and are joined by Sailor Earth, a male Sailor Soldier who fights with the combined qualities of all Earth people such as racism, chemically enhanced decision making (Drinking a beer) and the law of unintended consequences.
