The Lewis Lectures was a pilot developed for Adult Swim by Merrill Markoe aired in 2000 on Cartoon Network and 2002 on Adult Swim. The pilot starred Jack Black as a Tony Robbins-esque dog.

The episode revolves around Lewis the Labrador lecturing a group of neighborhood dogs on how to best spend their time alone. Lewis live with his owner and a lap dog named Winky. Using charts and videos of himself following his teachings, Lewis teaches the dogs what activities to complete while their owner is away, such as exercise, staring and eating garbage.

Broadcast History[]

The pilot first aired on December 21, 2000 prior to the formation of Adult Swim. It aired on Adult Swim on March 31, 2002. It was not picked up for a full time show.

Notes[]

  • Lewis and Winky were based on and named after Merrill Markoe's real-life dogs. Dogs are regular subjects of Markoe's works which were also used in the animated sitcom Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist. Both Dr. Katz and The Lewis Lectures were animated by Soup2Nuts.
